Master of Arts in International Studies – Live an Extraordinary Life
Consider the Possibilities
Opportunity… Challenge … Experience
You’re a college graduate compelled by the idea of life and work overseas. China’s ingenuity in business and education appeals to you, and you increasingly imagine yourself pursuing a business, educational, or service career abroad. Now you’re seeking a masters degree to help you realize your professional dream.
But your time is limited. You can’t afford to be stuck in a classroom in the States for two years. When you choose a graduate program in international studies, it not only needs to be academically rigorous, but it needs to be accelerated and grounded in real world experiences.
You may be the perfect candidate for Concordia University’s Master of Arts in International Studies (MAIS) program.
Founded in 2005, the MAIS program is an extraordinary program that teaches theoretical knowledge, along with cultural, research, and language skills, and gives students real world work experience in China in just one year. The MAIS program manifests Concordia’s mission as a Christian university, which encourages students to engage people and cultures worldwide.
With our program, there’s very little waiting to experience life and work in China. After a summer of intensive courses at our Irvine campus, you head overseas and immediately start living, working, and studying in China, perhaps in some of the ways you’ve always imagined.
What will your life be like in China? The MAIS program will prepare you to teach Chinese children and young adults about the English language, conduct research for your capstone project, complete online courses with professors in Irvine, and negotiate living on your own in a new culture.
You’ll concentrate in either International Business or ESL Education, and live in such cities as Shenzhen, Shanghai, Hangzhou, or Beijing, some of China’s most important political, intellectual, financial, and manufacturing centers.
“I am back in China, living and working, and that would not be the case without the Concordia program. If you want to be challenged every day and grow as a person, this program can give you the job, the support, and the master’s degree while you’re living in one of the most dynamic countries in the world. If you have this opportunity, do it and don't look back!”
