Is a computer science degree a good degree to have?
If you’re looking for a dynamic, in-demand career, a computer science degree is absolutely a good degree to have. Computer and IT occupations are projected to add about 317,700 openings each year between 2024 and 20341 — and with technology constantly evolving, your future career will be anything but static.
What do I need for a computer science major?
For your computer science coursework, you’ll need a laptop that can handle programming and development software. We recommend a mid- to high-performance system running macOS, Windows, or a Unix-like operating system. Most Chromebooks, iPads, and tablets won’t work for this program since they don’t allow for full installation of development tools. Many students also find it helpful to have an external mouse and monitor for comfort during coding sessions, but this is not a requirement.
