From the smallest organisms to entire ecosystems, you will learn the foundational biological principles that connect these to each other, but also gain a better understanding of your position in the universe. Modern biologists are challenged to find solutions for some of the biggest issues of our time. A Biology degree from Concordia University Irvine prepares you to take on these issues from both a scientific and a distinctly Lutheran Christian perspective. It can open doors to a multitude of careers in research, education, industry, forensics, and professional positions in various areas within the allied health profession.
Concordia University’s Biology Department has a very serious commitment to research and research design. Our students are trained in experimental design, proposal writing and submission, real world constraints on data collection, statistical data analysis, and a variety of other research protocols. Our goal is to provide an experience that gives you the flexibility to design a research project motivated by your own interests, carry out that experiment, and then write up the results of the research in a refereed journal format. As a Biology major at Concordia, you will complete a senior research thesis that will prepare you for advanced study or careers in the sciences in a way that many universities cannot.
