I transferred to Concordia three years ago from Modesto, CA from a small community college. When I transferred I was looking for a specific kind of college; one with a small campus, professors that could be reached for help and guidance, and an environment that could help me grow and succeed. I found all of that in Concordia. Over the past three years at Concordia I have grown much. As a member of Concordia’s competitive Speech and Debate team, I travel up to two weekends a month to compete at various tournaments. Now, traveling this much usually hurts school work, but I have always been able to get into contact with my professors, even after their office hours. This was invaluable in keeping my grades up and being successful in my classes and in speech and debate.
I have always been able to get into contact with my professors...Many faculty and staff members have remembered my name after only interacting with them once.
Concordia has also helped me grow as a person as well. The atmosphere at Concordia is one of support, friendship, and community. Concordia is the only place, in my mind, that everyone from students to staff come together to help one another succeed. Many faculty and staff members have remembered my name after only interacting with them once. Having the whole campus come together for lunch and dinner really helped me make a better transition to Concordia. This sense of community that Concordia has given me has helped me succeed by helping me control stress and giving me a safe environment to grow. These things are key to anyone in college and are what have helped me become the person I am today and will continue to help me succeed when I graduate and in my future career.
