Procrastination Diaries

October 11, 2017 - 1 minute read

Let’s face it. We’ve all procrastinated on assignments from time to time. At the Writing Studio, we’ve heard every excuse in the book. I spoke with Concordia students of all ages, majors, and work ethics and asked them how far they’ve gone to procrastinate on a writing assignment. Here are some of the most extreme things students have done to avoid writing a paper:

“One time freshman year I had a giant paper to write, and I built an entire chair instead.”

“I’ve probably gone through entire seasons of crappy shows on Netflix, and my excuse is, I have to finish them, or I’ll be thinking about them the entire time I’m doing my essay. Whoops.”

“I went to Donut Star at 2 AM.”

“One time I read an entire book instead of finishing an essay. Literally an entire book. I stayed up the entire night to finish this book. It was great. I had a good time.”

“My entire relationship with my ex was my way of avoiding papers.”

“Most of the time I’m hanging out with the friend who’s supposed to motivate me, but we end up de-motivating each other, drinking tea, and watching reruns of The Office.”

“One time I hid out at my favorite professor’s house all night to avoid an assignment.”

“I mean, seriously, if there’s nothing else, I’ll just stare at the wall. I’ll not have my phone, not have anything else, and I’ll just stare at a wall for like four hours. It will seriously happen. I’ll get lost in my own brain.”

“I’ve definitely gone on a five or six mile run. That’s pretty extreme, I guess.”

“I watch TV. It’s boring. I watch it anyway.”

“I just go to sleep. I sleep a lot when I don’t want to do homework. I clean the bathroom sometimes, and I usually don’t clean the bathroom, so if I clean the bathroom I really know I’m procrastinating.”

"I plan my dream wedding. I don’t have a boyfriend.”

Trust us—we understand. Whatever your reason for procrastinating, the Writing Studio is here to help you with your paper—any course, any paper, any time! Make an appointment today!
