Summer Instrumental Solo Artist Festival

Concordia University Irvine is pleased to launch the first Summer Instrumental Solo Artist Festival in the Borland-Manske Center. Talented young musicians are invited to take part in intensive chamber programs led by distinguished faculty and guest artists. Participants will enhance their knowledge and musical skills while sharing the experience with peers and professional musicians.

Instrumental: Violin and Cello
Dates: Tuesday June 13, - Friday June 16, 2023 | 10:00 AM- 4:00 PM
Ages: 5th grade and older

Registration and Audition

Video recording of one or two pieces that demonstrate your highest level of musical achievement, uploaded to YouTube (unlisted) or other similar easily accessible video sharing website.

Application Deadline:

Early Application

Application fee: $30
Due date: April 1st, 2023
Acceptance will be announced by April 5, 2023. Tuition must be paid by April 10, 2023

Regular Application

Application fee: $60
Due date: April 30th, 2023
Acceptance will be announced by May 3rd, 2023. Tuition must be paid by May 7, 2023

Parents, if your child is under age 13, you might be eligible to apply for Dependent Care FSA to reimburse the tuition for the camp.

Non-paid Internships available for high school students

Lunch Package (optional): $50.00

Room and Board (for students out of state and county)*: $350

*Students under 18 years old who need room and board, must be accompanied by a guardian or chaperon.

Refund Policy: No tuition will be refunded except for unavoidable emergencies subject to review by the Institute Administration.

Concerto Competition

  • Competition Date: Monday June 12, 2023
  • Performance Date: Sunday June 18, 2023 
  • The top 6 contestants will have the opportunity to perform their piece with a chamber orchestra led by Dennis Kim, the concertmaster of Pacific Symphony. 
  • Concerto Competition Application Fee: $60
  • Performance Fee (for the selected performers): $500
  • Repertoire: Any single movement from the following list of concerti 
    • Violin:
      • W. A. Mozart Violin Concerti
      • J. Haydn Violin Concerti
      • J.S. Bach Violin Concerti
      • A. Vivaldi Violin Concerti
    • Cello:
      • J. Haydn Cello Concerti
      • L. Boccherini Cello Concerti
