Our program

​​The Art Department at Concordia University Irvine offers a rich artistic environment where you can develop into artists and designers versed in core foundational art skills, prepared for employment and leadership in a variety of artistic professions. Engaging faculty emphasize artistic excellence, creative expression, and lifelong learning. Visiting artists’ exhibitions and lectures inspire students to understand the role of the professional artists in the contemporary art world.

    WEEKLY CREATIVE PROJECTS

    ARTISTS’ RECEPTION:
    Wednesday, September 18
    10:30 am - 11:00 am

    Students proposed a creative project culminating in a series in their selected media and theme. Works from Digital Publishing, Graphic Design I, Typography II, Graphic Design III, and History of Graphic Design will be displayed.

    COLLAGE WORKSHOP AT IRVINE GLOBAL VILLAGE FESTIVAL

    You are invited to our drop-in Collage Workshop at the Irvine Global Village Festival.
    Participants will create a small artwork inspired by art and culture from regions across the world. Open to all ages.

    An exhibition of projects in which students illustrated Scriptural texts that they chose. These projects were the final for several classes, including Drawing I and II, Printmaking I and II, Painting I, and Experiences in Art.

    LUTHERAN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TOURNAMENT OC 2025

    February 15 – February 16
    Alpha Building, 1st Floor Hallway

    This exhibition presents students’ winning artwork from the Lutheran Elementary School Tournament (LEST). LEST focuses on the value of a Christian education that emphasizes the love and praise of God, the thankful use of personal talents, and service to others.

    Rio Nakasone

    Rio Nakasone '17 was born and raised in Japan by fashion designers who owned a chain of women’s clothing stores. At Concordia University Irvine, he gained the skills to become a graphic designer for a hot brand back in Tokyo. More important, he learned the art of effective communication.

The Aerie

The Aerie is an annual journal which showcases work being done in creative writing and art by Concordia University Irvine students, alumni, faculty and staff. In addition, it provides students from both the English and Art departments a hands-on experience working collaboratively to produce a quality literary and arts journal. Students are involved in every aspect of the production from the call for submissions, to the selection of creative work and the design of the journal. The publication of The Aerie is made possible with funding from the Office of the Provost.
