Concordia Alumni Publish Trailblazing Research on Hydration and Cardiovascular Health

A shared passion for human physiology led Maddie Giddings ’20 and Jacob Auringer ’21 to an achievement few undergraduate students attain—a peer-reviewed research publication. As students at Concordia University Irvine, they conducted a study on how hydration impacts central blood pressure, which was a finalist in the 2020 President’s Academic Showcase. In 2024, their research was published in the Journal of Clinical Physiology and Functional Imaging, marking a milestone for them and Concordia’s growing reputation in undergraduate research.
