First Year Admission Requirements

A first-time student is a current high school student who will be attending a college or university for the first time. Entering freshmen may submit an application any time after the completion of their junior year of high school. To apply to CUI as a first-time student, follow the steps below.

Application Steps

    We are waiving the $50 application fee!
  2. Official High School Transcript
    Official transcripts must be sent from the high school, either mailed directly in a sealed envelope, uploaded to the Common App portal (if applying via Common App), sent electronically via Parchment, eScrip, or National Student Clearinghouse, or in a sealed envelope from the high school hand-carried to Concordia University Irvine (if local).
    Note: CUI grants college credit for Credit by Exam scores. Students may transfer in a maximum of 30 non-accredited credits by exam (AP, CLEP, DSST or IB units).

  3. Official SAT and/or ACT scores
    We are waiving the SAT or ACTrequirement for Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 applicants with one exception - if you are an incoming D2 student-athlete, per NCAA regulations, you must take the SAT or ACT.

Admission Standards

  • Minimum GPA: 2.80
  • Minimum SAT: Waived for Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 applicants*
  • Minimum Composite ACT: Waived for Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 applicants*

Averages from the incoming class of 2017 - 2018

  • Average GPA: 3.44
  • Average SAT: 1038 (critical reading/math)
  • Average Composite ACT: 23

*per NCAA regulations, incoming student-athletes must still submit SAT or ACT scores

Recommended College Prep Curriculum

  • English: 4 years
  • Mathematics: 3 years (including Algebra II)
  • Science: 3 years (including 2 years of Lab Science)
  • History: 2 years
  • Foreign Language: 2 years of the same language

Note: Applications received after February 15 are reviewed on a rolling basis, and it is recommended that students apply well in advance. Once your application is complete, it usually takes two weeks to receive an admissions decision, depending upon the time of year.
