Develop the skills and expertise demonstrated by today’s innovative K-12 educators with the Master of Arts in Education in Learning, Design, and Technology from Concordia University Irvine. You’ll gain a deeper understanding of the relationship between technology, pedagogy, and content, so you can apply technologies and assess the attainment of learning outcomes for all students.
The master’s in Learning, Design, and Technology from Concordia is an online, asynchronous program. That means, no juggling face-to-face courses, on-campus classes, or synchronous sessions. Within our one-year track, learners will take two courses at a time for each 10-month term.
Students who complete the master’s in Learning, Design, and Technology may take an accelerated path to earn a second MAEd in Curriculum and Instruction at Concordia with only five additional courses.

Getting Started
The program consists of eight program courses, followed by two capstone-related courses. The classes can be completed in as few as 10 months.
You can also earn a second MAEd degree by adding just 15 additional elective units to your degree plan. You’ll graduate with both the MAEd in Learning, Design, and Technology and an MAEd in Curriculum and Instruction. By earning these degrees together, you’ll be prepared to advance your career with positions that require expertise in both areas. Plus, most school districts will offer an increase in your pay scale for completing a second degree.

Upon earning your master’s in Learning, Design, and Technology, you’ll be able to:
- Integrate Intentional Design (IID): Develop an understanding of the dynamic relationship between technology, pedagogy and content in order to creatively apply a variety of technologies to support and assess the attainment of learning outcomes for all students. (IL, SR)
- Apply Disciplinary Competencies (ADC): Demonstrate and apply the requisite technical skill and knowledge necessary for effectively integrating technology into the curriculum. (CE, IL)
- Model Ethical Leadership (MEL): Model servant leadership as applied to the role of an effective and ethical technology steward, by encouraging, supporting, collaborating, and sharing expertise within a professional community. (CE, EL, RP)
- Exercise Informed Reflection (EIR): Demonstrate a balanced, informed, and reflective approach to the integration of technology into the teaching and learning processes. (IL, RP)
- Promote Active Learning (PAL): Identify effective strategies for lifelong learning in a global and digital world, including shaping a personal learning network to support continuous professional growth in educational technology. (EC, CE)

The master’s in Learning, Design, and Technology allows you to cast a wide net when it comes to career opportunities while equipping you with in-demand, future-ready skills. For example, roles for instructional coordinators are projected to grow with over 20,000 openings each year, on average, from 2023 to 2033.¹

These combined competencies can further expand your career options into roles such as Educational Technology Specialist, TOSA (Teacher on Special Assignment), Technology Coach, and other emerging positions at the intersection of education and innovation.

What is a Learning, Design, and Technology degree?
In a Learning, Design, and Technology degree program, you’ll learn principles and best practices to create effective and engaging learning experiences. At Concordia, you’ll focus on learning theories, design thinking, and cutting-edge technologies to enhance the learning process for students. The program is just 10 courses.
