Concordia University Irvine’s (CUI) inaugural Latina Leadership Conference held October 22, 2016 marked the launch of the private university’s initiative to become a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI). With Hispanics making up 23 percent of its undergraduate student population, Concordia University is positioned to be designated by the federal government as an HSI, giving the school access to funding that would help reach—and encourage—this population to navigate the road to college.
