Florence Price: Symphony No. 1 in E Minor Antonin Dvorak: Symphony No. 9 in E Minor ("From the New World") Florence Price's first symphony was based on a careful study of Dvorak's ninth. Hear this fascinating pairing back to back.

Czech composer Antonin Dvorak came to the U.S. at the end of the 19th century and soaked in the unique sounds of American music. One of the resultant works was his monumental Symphony No. 9. The concert will open with Symphony #1 by Florence Price, a work inspired by Dvorak’s great work.
