Alumni Homecoming 2021 pivoted from a beloved on-campus event to a temporarily virtual one as alumni gathered online across the globe. Registrants received a special “participation packet" complete with popcorn, games and access to exclusive online content. All alumni were invited to participate in virtual events such as a Meet the President meeting, live-streamed basketball and volleyball games, an estate planning seminar, an all-alumni (online) gathering, and an alumni award ceremony.

Recent graduate Justin Winn, MBA ’20, has served on active duty with the U.S. Army for nearly 15 years, rising from an entry-level position as a helicopter mechanic to become a commissioned officer specializing in human resources. When Winn got the opportunity to pursue a graduate degree, he chose to come to Concordia Irvine to earn his MBA.
CUI alumnus Jon-Thomas (J.T.) Royston ’15 is helping give voice to the world’s conversation on racial injustice through film, acting as a producer in the 2020 film Black Boys. The project is a tribute to young black men and boys in America that honors his upbringing.

In the former lumber town of Navajo, New Mexico, CUI cross-cultural ministry graduate Tim Norton and his family minister to people of the Navajo Nation in the midst of high poverty, social problems and great cultural and natural beauty. With the help of CUI teams and interns, Norton leads the people of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church as they bring the restoring message of the gospel to the reservation.
