Prepare for a Future in Nursing
The pre-nursing minor at Concordia University Irvine offers aspiring nurses a clear and supportive pathway forward. By pairing this minor with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology, Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, or Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, you can become eligible to apply for the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program — allowing you to complete both degrees in as little as five years.
Nursing is not only a meaningful vocation where you can serve others but also a growing field. From 2023 to 2033, more than 190,000 nursing positions are projected to open each year, creating strong demand for compassionate and well-prepared professionals.1
By completing the nursing minor alongside the Bachelor of Arts in Biology, you’ll fulfill all prerequisite requirements for our Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program. Majoring in psychology or kinesiology can also help you enter the ABSN program, as well provide you with the tools and skills to excel in a variety of healthcare professions. Your academic advisor will guide you in selecting the right courses so you stay on track for your future nursing studies.

Can you minor in nursing?
Yes. At Concordia, you can pursue a minor in nursing, which pairs especially well with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology. You may also combine it with another health-related major, helping you become a more well-rounded healthcare professional upon graduation.
