What do you do in American studies?
Can I do an MPH degree online?
Because an American studies minor is interdisciplinary, you’ll explore a variety of subjects, including history, political science, English, and sociology. This broad approach helps you build critical-thinking, writing, and problem-solving skills that employers value in nearly every field.
Graduates with backgrounds in interdisciplinary studies often pursue careers in management, education and library science, healthcare, business and financial operations, office and administrative support, and law.1 The American Studies Minor at Concordia also provides a strong foundation for graduate work in the humanities and social sciences.
Is an American studies minor considered the humanities?
Yes. American studies is considered a humanities-based discipline, integrating art, religion, philosophy, history, literature, and anthropology. At Concordia, you’ll study these subjects through a Christian lens, developing both your intellect and your sense of purpose as you examine the stories and values that define American life.
