Step beyond the classroom and into the world through the Global Cultural Studies Minor at Concordia University Irvine. This program combines international travel, academic study, and service-learning experiences that help you understand global issues through a Christian lens.
Students in this minor must apply for and participate in Concordia’s Around-the-World (ATW) Semester® — a life-changing academic journey where you’ll study literature, history, religion, and the arts while visiting communities across the globe.
By the time you return, you’ll have developed a deeper appreciation for diverse cultures, a stronger sense of calling, and the ability to communicate and lead with empathy in a global context.

Global cultural studies is an interdisciplinary field that explores how people, ideas, and traditions shape societies around the world. You’ll examine topics such as religion, politics, art, economics, and social systems, all while developing a deeper understanding of what connects and distinguishes cultures.
