Kristy Andre

Kristy Andre '04, M.Ed '09, Ed.D.

Adjunct Faculty, Concordia University Irvine
Elementary School Principal

Dr. Kristy Andre is an educator who is always thinking of ways to evolve and grow and hopes to provide a space for everyone to feel loved, cared for, and safe. She has a Masters in Education from Concordia University Irvine and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Southern California. Kristy has served as an elementary teacher, middle school teacher, instructional coach, and currently serves as an elementary school principal. She has taught in a traditional classroom setting, a non-traditional classroom setting, and has taught in South Africa for two years. Kristy is also the author of Evolving Learner: Shifting from Professional Development to Professional Learning from Kids, Peers, and the World.


Daisy Cardiel

Daisy Cardiel '05, MA

Assistant Director
U.S. Department of State: New York Passport Agency

Daisy Cardiel serves as the Assistant Director of the U.S. Department of State’s New York Passport Agency, the busiest public passport counter in the nation, assisting more than 117,000 U.S. citizens a year. As the Assistant Director, Daisy manages the day-to-day operations of the Agency’s workload management, operational planning, and workforce staffing. She leads a team of managers responsible for strategic planning and execution of comprehensive functions that protect the integrity of the U.S. passport.

Previously, Daisy served as the American Citizens Services Chief at the U.S. Consulate General in Monterrey, Mexico. During this tenure, she supervised a team of 12 people overseeing various services offered to over 100,000 U.S. citizens residing or traveling within specific states in Mexico. Services included U.S. passport and citizenship documentation, voting information, and emergency assistance. She also developed and maintained working relationships with U.S. and Mexican law enforcement, as well as social services to provide urgent assistance to U.S. citizens in need of refuge.

Prior to her Mexico assignment, she served as a Country Desk Officer for the U.S. Department of State, Office of Children’s Issues in Washington, D.C. as the primary point of contact on matters involving international parental child abduction in South America. Daisy worked to resolve some of the most complex and high profile international parental child abduction cases that endured Congressional and national attention. Daisy also served as a Passport Specialist for the U.S. Department of State in Los Angeles and in Washington D.C.

Daisy holds an M.A. in International Communication from American University, Washington, D.C. and a B.A. in Communication from Concordia University in Irvine, California.

Daisy was born and raised in Los Angeles, California.


Melissa Jacobi

Melissa Jacobi

Senior Manager of Multimedia and Partnerships
Newport Beach & Company

Melissa Jacobi is the Senior Manager of Multimedia Marketing and Partnerships for Newport Beach & Company. She has more than 6 years of partnership experience, and in her previous role, she served as the Assistant Athletic Director of Operations and Development for Concordia University Irvine. In 2019, she was awarded 30 Under 30 by Destinations International and named one of 30 “Emerging Leaders” by the California Travel Association.

Melissa holds a BA in Communications from Chapman University.


Cindy Steinbeck

Cindy Steinbeck MA '02

Owner, Steinbeck Vineyards & Winery

Cindy Steinbeck owns Steinbeck Vineyards and Winery in Paso Robles, CA located on the beautiful California Central Coast half way between Los Angeles and San Francisco. She holds a B.A. from Concordia University Portland and a M.A in Reformation History and Theology from Concordia University Irvine, CA (2002). She is a business woman, author, teacher, speaker, mother, and grandmother.

Cindy retired from family life ministry and moved home to the family vineyard in 1997 to farm with her parents in their large wine growing operation. After watching and studying the complex California wine industry, she and her parents founded their winery. Cindy serves as CEO of their family businesses.

Cindy also created a unique offering of educational tours of her vineyard, known as Crash Courses (2003). Guests enjoy bumpy Jeep rides through the family vineyards giving Cindy an opportunity to tell the family’s seven generation story, showcase premium wine growing, and wine making. Crash Courses include an option for a teaching tour of Christ’s words, “I am the Vine; you are the branches” through which Cindy unfolds rich images between grape vines and Christ, the True Vine. Imagery includes being grafted into Christ, healing from wounds, the energy of the vine, pruning, and bearing mature fruit.

Cindy’s passion for the Scriptures, the vines, and the land led to writing and publishing four books. She speaks at Christian conferences and conventions across the United States.

Cindy enjoys living near and working with her two children and their spouses. Her four grandchildren, ages 8, 5, 3 and 1 light up her world!

Tamara Sauer

Moderator | Tamara Sauer '02, MA '18

Director of Alumni & Family Relations
Concordia University Irvine

Tamara Sauer is Concordia University Irvine's Director of Alumni and Family Relations and is delighted to be the moderator for this panel. After graduating from CUI in 2002 with Bachelor's degrees in both Business: Marketing and Art, Tamara worked her way up the corporate ladder in the retail industry. Starting as a marketing coordinator for Draper's and Damon's, then marketing database analyst and marketing manager for Anna's Linens, and on to director of marketing for Paul's TV.

In 2012, Tamara began serving on CUI's Alumni Board of Directors and in 2015, accepted the role of Director of Alumni & Family Relations. Tamara holds a Masters in Organizational Leadership (2018) from the Townsend Institute at Concordia University Irvine. She also teaches as an adjunct professor for both the Townsend Institute and Foundations at CUI.

Her high-school sweetheart husband of 17 years and "future Eagle" boys, ages 11 and 13 provide more love and laughter thought possible.
