Servant Leader Award Recipient
LaVeda Carter

Star light, star bright, first star I see tonight

LaVeda Carter

For more than 40 years, LaVeda Carter was often the first star, and the last star, you would see at one of our many successful Concordia University Irvine Events. Her tireless dedication to the mission of CUI was driven by her commitment to God’s calling in her life.

As the longest tenured employee of CUI, LaVeda has seen it all. From the Gala of Stars, to the Concerts on the Green, to the Women’s Faith and Friendship Connection. From the Tall Ships roaming the west coast to the beauty of Segerstrom Concert Hall. Her vision inspired the countless volunteers, donors, friends, and staff who delighted in her presence and leadership. A true servant leader, LaVeda found creative ways to grow CUI into what it is today, making the most of the blessings given and remaining committed to serving the students of Concordia. Her motivation was not praise or recognition, but instead the knowledge that her efforts assisted students to find their vocation and receive a Christ-centered education from Concordia.

LaVeda Carter was celebrated through a recorded ceremony during the online Gala of Stars event on April 27-May 1. Read more
