Launching Through Luke - Lent 2026

Day

1

That You May Have Certainty

Lent 2026

Read Luke 1:1-4

In Genesis 3:1, Satan begins his temptation of Eve with the subtle question, “Did God really say…?” To this day, the father of lies remains actively engaged in creating doubt, confusion, and disbelief about what God has said and done. Are the things I know about Jesus really true? Did all of this really take place? Was He truly born of a virgin? Did He really live, minister, heal, perform miracles, teach what He taught, and promise what He promised? Did He really die on the cross? Did He truly rise again? Could this all really mean new life for me in Jesus? Has He really forgiven my sins?

Luke writes this Gospel “in order that you would know with certainty the things you have been taught.” In the midst of the ongoing attacks of Satan and the world, along with our own doubts and struggles with sin, Luke’s purpose is clear: that we would have certainty of faith in what God has done for us in Jesus Christ. This is not blind faith, but faith given and strengthened by the Holy Spirit—a faith grounded in God’s Word and in God’s work in history, which is trustworthy and reliable.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, continually gather me to your life-giving Word, that I may regularly hear and read it. Through your Word, strengthen and preserve me with a steadfast faith unto life everlasting. Amen.
