Hear the Word of Life

Lent 2026

Read Luke 8:1-21

“The seed is the Word of God.” We can spend so much time analyzing this parable—sorting soils, evaluating ourselves or others, even measuring the potential for ministry growth—that we risk missing the very first and most basic truth: the Word of God is like seed sown by a sower.

The parable shows all kinds of things that can happen as the seed of the gospel takes root and grows in our lives. Yet in the end, Jesus’ point is simple and direct: in God’s Kingdom, the Word of God produces faith. If you have ears, hear my Word.

We should hear that as His constant response to every concern, every doubt, every question of faith: Lord, I don’t even know where to begin; it’s all so overwhelming. Jesus says, “Hear my Word.” Lord, I’m not sure if my faith is strong enough. Jesus says, “Hear my Word.” But Lord, I feel like Satan is attacking me from all sides. Jesus says, “Hear my Word.”
Faith grows, life changes, and hope is sustained by hearing and receiving the Word of God—the seed that always accomplishes what it is meant to do

Prayer: Lord, thank you for bringing people into my life who have spoken and shared Your Word with me. Thank you for cultivating faith in my life through hearing Your Gospel. Continue to strengthen my faith by calling me to Your Word each day. Amen.
