Easter: The Resurrection of Our Lord
Throughout this Lententide, we have read and reflected on the Gospel according to Mark. He began his book, The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God (Mark 1:1).
Today is that Gospel’s exclamation point. It is the fulfillment of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. For all of God’s promises are true and trustworthy. He is risen; he is not [in the tomb]. See the place where they laid him (Mark 16:6). It’s all true. Jesus is risen.
The resurrection of Jesus, our crucified Savior, is the core of our faith. It is our hope and our joy. For we died with him and we will rise with him. His grave is empty and so will ours be one day. Our debt of sin has been paid in full, and we are given new life in Jesus.
So rejoice, people of God. Christ is risen, and you have life in him. We have his life now, and forever.
Christ is risen indeed! Alleluia!
