Emmanuel: Devotions for Advent
“The Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.” – Isaiah 7:14
Fulfilling Isaiah’s prophecy, Jesus Christ was born to Mary. He is no ordinary child, but the incarnate Son of God, come to redeem the world. This is why he is called Emmanuel: God with us. God himself dwells among his people in Jesus.
In this Advent season, we invite you to join us for weekly devotions that ponder some of the ways that God is with us. In him we find life, comfort and hope.
We also invite you to tune into our new PBS special: “Emmanuel: A Concordia Christmas” airing on PBS SoCal, or one of the other Concordia Christmas specials on PBS stations nationwide. May these add to your Advent joy!
God guide and bless you in this Advent season and always.
P.S. In case you’re wondering about spelling, this come from the two languages of the Bible: Immanuel in Hebrew and Emmanuel in Greek.
