Joel Kotkin Set to Speak at California Civics Education Event on March 28th

Who: Guest Speaker Joel Kotkin is an internationally known futurist, demographer and author.  Kotkin is a frequent contributor to The Orange County Register and intellectual journals nationwide.

What: Concordia University Irvine will be hosting an evening reception and program with guest speaker Joel Kotkin.  Kotkin will examine the critical issues including demographic, economic and political forces currently at play in California, and will also provide possible solutions to these issues that California is facing in the upcoming year.  Presenting sponsors for the event are Cindy and John Gates.   

When: Thursday, March 28, 2013 – 6:15 p.m.

“We are very proud to have a speaker of Joel’s caliber to kick off a year-long examination of the problems and issues facing California.  Anyone concerned about the future of our state needs to hear Joel’s perspective and his proposals for renewal of California” said Keith Curry, Director of the Center for Civics Education at Concordia.  Mr. Kotkin is the Distinguished Presidential Fellow in Urban Futures at Chapman University in Orange, California, and the author of The Next Hundred Million – America in 2050.  He is a compelling speaker and highly sought after commentator on urban dreads.  Kotkin kicks off a series of examinations on California's future in 2013, sponsored by the Center for Civics Education.  Kotkin will be available for book signings during the event.
