Concordia University Irvine's Master of Healthcare Administration Degree Program Receives Candidate Status From CAHME

IRVINE, CA (January 27, 2020)—Concordia University Irvine’s (CUI) Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) program has received candidate status from the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME), the national organization that grants accreditation to graduate degree programs. Candidate status puts Concordia’s MHA program closer to CAHME accreditation.

Concordia Irvine’s Master of Healthcare Administration program voluntarily underwent a year-long review period by the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education in order to receive candidate status. The review process included an extensive review of policies and procedures as well as site visits by the CAHME candidate committee. Candidate status must be earned before MHA programs can receive CAHME accreditation.

“The candidate status positions Concordia Irvine for future accreditation, and to compete for high-caliber students who are looking for rigorous curriculum that will prepare them for their healthcare management career,” said Provost Peter Senkbeil.

Launched in 2016, Concordia Irvine’s online Master of Healthcare Administration program emphasizes leadership, practical application, and professional development. Graduates of CAHME-accredited programs have been known to work in various sectors of the healthcare industry including hospitals, nursing homes, physician’s offices, pharmaceutical and device manufacturers, consulting, and government and public policy. Professors in CUI’s MHA program have backgrounds in various sectors of healthcare administration, while many work as practitioners or consultants in the healthcare industry. CUI MHA administrators anticipate accreditation by late 2021.
