Concordia University Irvine Moves into Top 40 Spot in College Rankings

U.S. News & World Report Names CUI as a “Top Tier” Regional University in 2019 College Rankings

Irvine, Calif. (September 10, 2018)--Concordia University Irvine (CUI) ranked 37th in the new 2019 Best Regional Universities West rankings according to U.S. News & World Report annual rankings released today. The private liberal arts University, which has been ranked 41st for the last two years, moved to 37th out of 140 schools.

About 3,000 four-year universities—public and private—in the United States are ranked annually by U.S. News & World Report nationally and regionally. The rankings, which evaluate colleges and universities on 16 measures of academic quality, are split into four regions—North, South, Midwest, and West. Other private and public universities ranked with Concordia Irvine in the Top 40 of the 2019 U.S. News Best Regional Universities-West include Chapman University, Gonzaga University, Loyola Marymount University, and five California State Universities including Cal Poly Pomona and San Luis Obispo.

In addition, Concordia University Irvine was ranked 37th by U.S. News & World Report in its 2019 Best Value Schools Regional Universities West. Rankings for this category are based on ratio of academic quality to cost of attendance for a student who received the average level of need-based financial aid.

Factors to determine rankings include graduation rates, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, and alumni giving. Best Regional Universities offer a range of undergraduate and graduate programs, with some Ph.D. programs.
