The Concordia Symphony Orchestra is part of Concordia’s Orchestra Program, which also includes the Concordia Wind Orchestra and Concordia Sinfonietta. The ensemble brings together Concordia students and resident performing artists for orchestral performances on campus and beyond.
Perform at a High Level
Concordia’s Orchestra Program welcomes both highly experienced musicians and students who are ready to grow through a major touring and recording ensemble.
Students perform significant orchestral repertoire while developing their musicianship through rehearsals, concerts, recording sessions, travel, and close work with faculty and professional musicians.
Open to Music & Non-Music Majors
Orchestral opportunities are not limited to music majors. Students from across Concordia are encouraged to audition, including those whose primary experience has been in school band programs.
Music scholarships are available for woodwind, brass, string, percussion, and harp musicians. Pianists may also be assigned to the orchestra as part of a piano scholarship.
About the Orchestra
Founded in 2010, the Concordia Symphony Orchestra has developed into a full symphonic ensemble under Dr. Jeff Held. Its programming combines major orchestral repertoire with sacred music and collaborative performances.
The orchestra has toured beyond Southern California and performs in major Concordia events, including the university’s nationally broadcast Christmas programming.
Audition for the Orchestra Program
Auditions are available in person or remotely. Applicants prepare a solo, étude, or excerpts that demonstrate their current level of musicianship, followed by an interview about their musical and academic goals.
