U.S. News & World Report Ranks Concordia University Among Best National Universities in Social Mobility

Irvine, CA., Sept. 12, 2022 – Concordia University Irvine has been ranked No. 178 among national universities in the 2022-2023 Best Social Mobility category by U.S. News & World Report. Now in its 38th year, the rankings evaluate more than 1,450 colleges and universities on 17 measures of academic quality. The social mobility ranking considers a school’s six-year graduation rate for Pell Grant students, demonstrating Concordia’s steadfast support of students from low-income backgrounds. “Concordia is blessed to serve students from many different socioeconomic backgrounds, educating each student to do good work across all of life's vocations,” said Provost Scott Ashmon.

In this year’s U.S. News & World Report rankings, Concordia moved from the west regional category to the larger and more prestigious national university category due to the addition of doctoral degree programs. Concordia offers a Ph.D. in counseling through the Townsend Institute and an Ed.D. in educational leadership through the School of Education. To date, the School of Education has awarded over 100 Ed.D degrees since the University began conferring doctoral degrees in 2017. Interest in the newly-added Ph.D. program through the Townsend Institute is likely to double the number of doctoral students at Concordia in the years ahead.

U.S. News & World Report publishes the Best Colleges rankings each year to provide prospective students and their families with helpful data and information on factors such as graduation rates, social mobility, and graduate indebtedness. Concordia is proud to serve students in undergraduate, masters, and doctoral programs as they prepare for their future vocations.
