Dr. Payne  Dr. Amen  The book Change Your Brain Change Your life

IRVINE, Calif. (July 7, 2014) – Students, young adults, educators and parents are invited to a special engagement with the author of “Change Your Brain, Change Your Life (Before 25),” hosted by Concordia University Irvine on Saturday, July 26. The event brings together Dr. Jesse Payne and Dr. Daniel Amen, both renowned for their research on brain function and health.

Dr. Amen's book, “Change Your Brain, Change Your Life,” which was published in 1999 and spent 40 weeks on the New York Times Bestseller list, sparked a revolution about how people think about the brain and how brain health relates to behavior and overall well-being. Now, Dr. Payne– Dr. Amen’s son-in-law– is releasing the next book in the series, aimed at teens, young adults and adults who work with this critical population of developing brains. During the event, Dr. Payne with special guest Dr. Amen will discuss relevant and practical brain facts including the research on the brain’s malleability before age 25, how specific parts of the brain relate to attention, flexibility, emotions and anxiety, as well as the devastating impact of drugs and alcohol on the brain.

“The root concept of the ‘Change Your Brain, Change Your Life’ series is that brain health is central to complete health, and Dr. Amen and Dr. Payne are dedicated to helping people develop stronger, healthier brains in order to improve overall physical, social and emotional wellness,” said Doug Grove, Assistant Provost of Adult, Graduate, and Online Learning at Concordia University Irvine. “Because Concordia University is invested in fostering the health and success of future generations, we are pleased to bring this event to our students and the greater Orange County community.”

General admission is $25 and includes a copy of “Change Your Brain, Change Your Life (Before 25)” and Dr. Amen’s “Which Brain Do You Want?” poster. Students may earn one continuing education unit (CEU) by attending the session and submitting a reflection paper within one week after the event.
