Irvine Campus a Leader in Growing Nationwide CORE Curriculum Trend -- Sees First Class of Undergraduates Complete CORE Program

Concordia University Irvine features a landmark “Core” curriculum that unites different disciplines that students take as part of their required general education coursework. Thoughtful, planned pairings – such as biology and theology or mathematics and philosophy – require students to hone logical thinking, sharpen communication skills, make creative connections, discuss questions and ideas from great books, and draw their own conclusions as opposed to memorizing facts from a textbook. While a proponent of CORE curriculum and a founding member of Association for Core Texts and Courses, Concordia’s CORE program will see its first graduating class of students in May 2014 that participated in the Core from freshmen year through graduation and now will move into careers or graduate work.
