Paul and Cathy Schroeder Library & Learning Commons Ribbon Cutting

Irvine, CA., Oct. 6, 2022 – Concordia University Irvine celebrated its newly remodeled and renamed library with a ribbon cutting and reception on Thursday, October 6. The Paul and Cathy Schroeder Library & Learning Commons was renovated to better serve student learning with a modern and collaborative design. Concordia President Michael A. Thomas, Board of Regents, Board of Trustees, City of Irvine officials, and distinguished guests marked this momentous occasion.

The library updates include a new Welcome Center, movable book collection stacks, and dynamic student study areas. The Learning Commons features comprehensive student support services with a Writing Center, Unity Center, and Center for Career & Vocation as well as enhanced tutoring services and academic advising. 

“Paul and Cathy are long-time friends and generous supporters of Concordia University Irvine. Paul has been a member of the Board of Trustees for over 30 years. Paul and Cathy served as the chairs of the Forward in Faith campaign, our recent comprehensive campaign that raised over $100 million. We are grateful for their faithful support,” said Tim Jaeger, Vice President of University Advancement, Marketing and Communications.

These upgrades will immediately benefit Concordia faculty, staff, and students as well as enrich the academic experience of future students for years to come. Concordia expresses its deep gratitude to Paul and Cathy Schroeder.
