Orange County University Named to 2017 Military Friendly® Schools List

IRVINE, Calif. (November 11, 2016)— Concordia University Irvine (CUI) has earned the 2017 Military Friendly® School designation, marking the fourth consecutive year for this distinction. Concordia Irvine is one of more than 1,600 public and private colleges and universities from across the United States to be recently named to the list. Concordia Irvine joins Baylor, Auburn, and Cornell Universities, as well as local institutions like Biola and the Cal States, among others.

Published since 2009 by Pittsburgh-based publisher Victory Media, the list is designed to provide service members and their families assessments of the best college, university, or trade school to receive education and training necessary to pursue a civilian career after military service. Institutions were evaluated using public data sources, and responses from Victory Media’s proprietary survey. Included among the 10 indicators are graduation rates, employment outcomes, military spouse policies, and degree advancement.

“This is important for prospective students as they search for programs to use their hard-earned GI Bill®,” said Concordia University Irvine Veterans Resource Center Manager Steve Leader. “They want to find a university that will not only take care of them, but that will graduate them. This survey allows us to benchmark ourselves to find better ways to serve our veterans.”

Creating a consistent standard among leading colleges gives veterans a comprehensive view, say survey officials. “Universities earning the 2017 Military Friendly® designation demonstrate a strong connection between classroom learning and career development,” says Victory Media Chief Product Officer and Navy Reserve veteran Daniel Nichols. “They’re moving the needle beyond ‘why recruit

Concordia University Irvine’s Veterans Resource Center supports service members, veterans, and their families to pursue their academic and professional goals. Concordia Irvine also participates in the Yellow Ribbon GI Education Enhancement Program which provides financial assistance to eligible students.
