Institutional Accreditation
Concordia University Irvine is fully accredited by the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC), one of six regional bodies that supervise accreditation for colleges and universities throughout the United States.
Reaffirmation of Accreditation Through 2032
The Commission Action Letter of July 18, 2024 reaffirms Concordia’s accreditation for a period of eight years, extending through June 2032. The Commission specifically commends Concordia for:
- An evident and deep commitment throughout the whole of the university, including students, to the institutional mission and to the university’s core convictions.
- Creating a general education program that intentionally aligns with its identity and provides disciplinary and interdisciplinary means of education, centered on helping students address enduring and relevant questions.
- The university’s mentoring model, intentional support, and inclusion of adjunct instructors.
- Instilling a sense of pride in employees throughout the institution.
Public Accreditation Documents
The Commission’s action was based in part on a visit report submitted by a peer review team led by Dr. John Reynolds, President of Los Angeles Pacific University. See page 43 for the team’s specific commendations and recommendations for Concordia.

Program-Specific Accreditation
Several Concordia programs hold specialized accreditation from national bodies in their fields.
Counseling (CACREP)
The Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) accredits master’s and doctoral degree programs in counseling and related fields at colleges and universities in the United States and around the world. Accredited status means a program substantially meets CACREP’s critical quality requirements, and assures that graduates have met the majority of the educational requirements for licensure or certification as a counselor in all states.
Concordia University Irvine, in partnership with the Townsend Institute, voluntarily underwent an extensive external review with CACREP and earned accreditation for its Master of Arts in Counseling: Clinical Mental Health and its Doctor of Philosophy in Counselor Education and Supervision.
Business (IACBE)
Concordia University Irvine has received specialized accreditation for its business programs through the International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE), the leading outcomes-based professional accrediting organization for business programs in student-centered colleges around the world. IACBE accreditation helps ensure that your business degree is one of quality.
Nursing (CCNE)
Officially recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education as a national accreditation agency, the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) is an autonomous accrediting agency contributing to the improvement of the public’s health. CCNE ensures the quality and integrity of baccalaureate, graduate, and residency programs in nursing.
Healthcare Management (CAHME)
Since 1968, the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME) has defined the standards for healthcare management education for the world community. Ensuring the health of our communities depends on creative, knowledgeable, and mission-driven professionals, and graduating from a CAHME-accredited program helps better prepare the future leaders of healthcare.
CAHME is recognized as an independent global leader for determining quality in healthcare management education, and is recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation.
Music (NASM)
The National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) was founded in 1924 to secure a better understanding among institutions of higher education engaged in work in music, to establish a more uniform method of granting credit, and to develop and maintain basic, threshold standards for the granting of degrees and other credentials.
Teacher Education (CTC)
The purpose of the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) is to ensure integrity, relevance, and high quality in the preparation, certification, and discipline of the educators who serve all of California’s diverse students.
