How did you end up at Concordia University Irvine?
The short answer - God. After two years working in a more administrative role, respected friends and mentors encouraged me to return to residence life and seek a role as a Residence Director. I was not expecting to head so far west, although I have always had an interest in experiencing the west coast, as I enjoy experiencing and interacting with cultures different than my own. Upon attending the ACSD conference, I learned of an opening at Concordia and applied. I am very excited to be here and have enjoyed building relationships with people in the Concordia community!
What is your favorite thing about Concordia University Irvine?
Two favorite things:
The students - they are the reason why I am here and they've welcomed me into the community here.
I appreciate the opportunity to work at a faith-focused university where Christian faith and learning are intertwined.
What makes you laugh?
Life, people, me. Laughter is good for the soul, so I seek to laugh at most any opportunity.
What is your favorite movie?
Schindler's List
is my favorite movie, although this sounds so wrong to write. I just appreciate the use of very limited color in the this primarily black and white movie which is based on a true story of the Holocaust and the moving story line with a very poignant and meaningful conclusion.
What is your favorite Bible verse?
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight." -Proverbs 3:5-6
What is your favorite thing to do away from Concordia University Irvine?
I really enjoy playing board games that many people have not heard ever mentioned. Most people are shocked when they hear I own over 700 board games. I enjoy watching people's reactions upon entering my "game-room"! Before joining the Concordia community, I enjoyed playing both racquetball and broomball in leagues.
