FAQs
Is a philosophy minor useful?
A minor in philosophy is worthwhile because it prepares you to think clearly and write well. Philosophy means the love of wisdom, a trait needed in every industry. No matter your major, a minor in philosophy can work into it.
It’s about thinking carefully as you pursue truth in the world. It could be attached to a theology major, as you consider how and why people hold the beliefs they do about God. You could pair it with your behavioral sciences program, as you consider people’s complexities and how they’ve become who they are today. Or you could add it to a bachelor’s in marketing, an industry that depends on how people think.
What are the requirements to study philosophy?
At Concordia, the minor offers a fairly customizable curriculum. While all students are required to take two introductory units, the other four are your choice from a list that includes Bioethics and Healthcare Professions, History and Philosophy of Science, Christians and Ethics, and more. In total, the minor in philosophy is 18 units.
