What do classical languages include?
When people speak about the classical languages, they’re referring to Greek and Latin, the languages of ancient Greek literature, the New Testament, and early Christian thought. The Classical Languages minor at Concordia allows you to study both of these languages through 22 units of coursework.
Why study classical languages?
Literature written in the classical languages – Greek and Latin – is central to Western thought, so learning the languages helps you understand how classical ideas shaped the way we think today. Learning Greek and Latin will also give you a deeper understanding of English and other Western European languages.
