CONCORDIA’S 24TH ANNUAL Gala of Stars officially kicked off the University’s celebration of its 50th anniversary, and raised $1 million for student scholarships. The event honored Concordia’s Chief Mission Officer, The Rev. Dr. Steven. P. Mueller, Class of ’86, with the Servant Leadership Award, recognizing his contributions as an author, scholar, hymn writer, and professor.
In honor of Concordia’s 50 years, the University also recognized all alumni attending the event with the Lifetime Achievement Award, asking all alumni attendees to come to the stage and be recognized. The evening’s entertainment was produced by Concordia alumni through The Songwriter Initiative at Concordia’s Center for Worship Leadership and performed by Concordia alumni representing three decades. The group premiered the 50th anniversary theme song Always, written by alumnus Kip Fox ’03.
