Advice from Student Affairs
As your college student is transitioning and figuring out life lessons about what it means to be an individual, support them in their independence, but be willing to reach out in an urgent situation. Remind your student that friendships take time, energy, and effort: be proactive! Encourage them to step out of their comfort zone and sign up for a club or activity that they find interesting. With midterms around the corner, remember that care packages are always thoughtful and are a tangible way to show support as academic stresses increase.
You are welcome to contact the Office of First-Year Experience at fye@cui.edu regarding concerns you may have for your student. We will reach out to your student and aid in his/her success as a Concordia Eagle!

Lutheran Malaria Initiative
CUI students are currently working with the Lutheran Malaria Initiative to answer the global call to end malaria deaths in sub-Saharan Africa by 2015. This involvement follows the challenge of Lutheran World Relief and the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod to rally students within the CUI community around a cause, raising awareness and support for the initiative by August 2013.
