Two great friends head off in two different
directions—one travels, and one stays home.
But soon their paths will cross as they fall in
love with the same woman! This exciting love
adventure from England’s greatest playwright
has it all—music, a dog, marauding bandits,
and a severe test of love and forgiveness.
In 2011, the CUI Theatre Department launched a professional theatre company to give students opportunities to perform and learn alongside working professionals in a summer stock environment. The company was named “Looseleaf" in honor of Concordia’s shady outdoor amphitheater and the company’s focus on classics (which might be found in older, loose-leaf books).
Looseleaf’s first production - Shakespeare's Twelfth Night was attended by 1400 people over 5 performances. Audiences picnicked, laughed, and gave the performances standing ovations.
Concordia students involved in Looseleaf work in all areas including acting, stage management, costumes, and backstage technical areas. They are joined by professional actors and designers from L.A., Hollywood, and Orange County. Looseleaf provides Concordia students the chance to gain their first professional credits while still in college. In 2015, Looseleaf entered into an arrangement with Actor’s Equity – the professional union for stage actors and stage managers.
Now in its 6th season, Looseleaf has gone on to stage Shakespeare’s As You Like It set in the 1960’s. (see the video trailer on the side), The Comedy of Errors, The Merchant of Venice, and Romeo and Juliet. In 2017, Looseleaf will stage Two Gentleman of Verona.
