Irvine, Calif. (August 14, 2013)—“Mr. Ugg”, the founder of UGG Holdings Inc, Brian Smith, joined Concordia University Irvine’s President’s Advisory Council (PAC). Council members serve as advisors to the university president regarding business and community relations activities of the university.
Self-labeled as the UGG Footwear “Passioneer”, Brian Smith began importing Australian sheepskin boots in 1978. He developed UGG Imports for 17 years and sold the company to Deckers Outdoor Corp in 1995. Smith is now the author of the book, “The Birth of Ugg in America” as well as a public speaker, inspiring others with his entrepreneurial experience.
“It’s a blessing to have such an innovative entrepreneur as part of our advisory council. And it’s wonderful that his daughter cherished her studies while a student here at the university,” commented University President Dr. Kurt Krueger.
Concordia’s PAC members possess a strong personal and professional interest in the quality of higher education and advancing the mission of Concordia University. Advisory council members serve as a presidential sounding board for the discussion of new ideas and initiatives. All members share a commitment to helping build a great university and help ensure that Concordia meets the needs of its communities while achieving its fullest potential.
