Concordia Cares builds relationships with local Orange County organizations. We believe in building sustainable programs that will make an indelible impact on the community. Below you’ll find a list of the organizations with which we’re proud to be affiliated.
- Friends2Family
Bringing joyful relationships to nursing home residents who have few family or friends close by.
- Grandma’s House of Hope
Concordia volunteers spruce up the facilities GHoH uses for transitional housing for their clients (women and families in need).
- Habitat for Humanity of Orange County
Twice a year, Concordia Cares volunteers with Habitat for Humanity to give OC families affordable housing choices.
- Higher Ground Youth and Family Services
Volunteers help with special events for HG kids, as well as coach and mentor in HG’s youth sports leagues.
- Illumination Foundation
The Illumination Foundation was founded in 2007 to break the cycle of homelessness in Orange County. Concordia Cares volunteers help with community clean-ups and other projects at the Foundation’s Children’s Resource Center in Stanton, CA.
- Jessie Rees Foundation
Ensure every kid fighting cancer has the support to Never Ever Give Up! We fulfill our mission by connecting with families, bringing awareness to their stories, offering them helpful resources, and sending the entire family continual doses of encouragement throughout their journey.
- Newport Bay Conservancy
Volunteers meet in the Newport Back Bay monthly for ROOTS day. During this time, they assist with clean up and replant native species to sustain the delicate Back Bay ecosystem.
- OC Rescue Mission: Chili Van
Volunteers meet the Rescue Mission’s Chili Van monthly at the Civic Center in Santa Ana to serve meals to the homeless.
- OC Rescue Mission Village of Hope
Concordia students, faculty, and staff from the School of Education provide homework help for Village of Hope children four days per week during the school year. The American Chemical Society Student Chapter facilitates weekly science lessons and experiments. Concordia Athletics also hosts summer camps for Village of Hope children on our Irvine campus.
- Orangewood Children’s Foundation
Concordia Cares volunteers assist with various programs to support foster youth and their families.
- Ronald McDonald House
Small groups from Concordia visit the Orange County Ronald McDonald House monthly to cook and serve a meal for the families living there. Volunteers also eat with the residents, giving our students a chance to connect with families from all over Southern California.
- Samaritan’s Purse-Operation Christmas Child
The amazing journey of a simple shoebox gift begins with you and results in evangelism, discipleship, and multiplication. From children to seniors, people pack shoebox gifts each year to bless children in need around the world. Parents often use the project to teach their kids about giving. Year-round volunteers support these efforts across the country.
- Second Harvest Food Bank
With the help of our supporters and volunteers, Second Harvest Food Bank works through a network of 190 non-profit partner agencies and programs to provide wholesome food and fresh produce to more than 250,000 hungry children, seniors and families in Orange County every month.
- South County Outreach
Volunteers from Concordia work with South County Outreach to sort through food donations in their warehouse and staff their food pantry.
- Thinkers for Autism
Thinkers 4 Autism (T4A) is a 100% volunteer non-profit organization with a group of people dedicated to raising monies to provide a community with much needed services for families with children on the Autism Spectrum and Special Needs. Our goals are to provide families with respite care, winter/ Easter break care, after school programs and summer day camp. Our focus is to raise awareness and monies to provide our families these services at little to no cost with care to be provided to our children by caring loving and most importantly qualified people.
