Annual Brunch & Boutique

Thank you to all who attended the Women's Faith & Friendship Connection on Saturday, November 2, 2019. Nearly 350 ladies had a wonderful time as we came together and enjoyed a beautiful boutique, wonderful brunch, and inspiring speakers. Thank you to all who helped make this year's Women's Faith & Friendship Connection a success. All proceeds went to support the Concordia Fund for student scholarships and university programs. On behalf of Concordia University Irvine, we thank you for your support!

Special thanks to our Women's Faith & Friendship Connection committee, all of our volunteers, our table hostesses, Concordia's Brass Quintet, our Emcee and student representative, our vendors, and our wonderful speakers, Jake & Cindy Olson.

We look forward to next year's Women's Faith & Friendship Connection Boutique & Brunch and hope that you can join us!

Walking by Faith - Not by Sight

2019 Guest Speakers: Jake & Cindy Olson

At the age of 8 months, Jake Olson was diagnosed with a rare form of eye cancer. The disease claimed his left eye at 10 months old and he lost his right eye at age 12. Jake confronted many challenges and encountered many setbacks during his battle and loss of sight, but remained strong through his faith in God. While at Orange Lutheran High School, Jake joined the football team and learned to long snap his junior and senior years. After being accepted to USC, he was offered a walk-on spot with the USC football team and was named the Pac-12 special teams player of the week.

He graduated from USC in May with a degree in business administration. He now plays golf and partnered with Travis Mathew golf apparel company to develop a braille golf shirt. Jake was also appointed to serve as a member of the President's Council on Sports, Fitness & Nutrition for the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services.

Hear the compelling story from Jake and his mother Cindy about how he has used his experience to inspire and motivate others by authoring two books, creating a non-profit foundation to help visually impaired children, and sharing his story openly as a motivational speaker.
