Additional Information on Dr. Charles Manske:
Dr. Charles Manske founded Concordia University Irvine in 1972 (then called Christ College Irvine), single-handedly procuring land and funding for the new university in Irvine. His vision for CUI was that university should always look “outward.” Dr. Manske believed that Concordia’s prime location in Irvine would enable the university to reach out to both the Asian and Latin American communities – a vision that was prophetic in the 70s is Southern Orange County’s reality today! Dr. Mankse wanted to prepare students to effectively reach out across cultures with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He served as the campus pastor for both USC (1958-73) and UCLA (1959-1961).
