God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling.
Psalm 46:1-3
Have you ever had one of those days? Weeks? Months? Year? You know the type I’m talking about, a time where everything seems to go wrong. A time where it seems like, at any moment, the whole world is going to come crashing down around you.
The realization is that we have all been there at one time or another.
Our text today reminds us that we do not have to fear in the midst of trials. Why? Because, though we struggle here on earth because of sin, the victory has been won for us by Christ Jesus, through His death and resurrection, and He is present with us in the midst of our struggle.
Yes, there will be times where we have terrible, horrible, no good, very bad moments in life; but let us not become overwhelmed or afraid in the middle of those moments. Rather, let us walk in confidence, seeking refuge and strength from the one who has overcome and is a sure and certain anchor in the midst of it all, Jesus.
Let us pray…
Father, remind us, once again, of your faithful presence in the midst of our trials here on earth. Even when it feels that all is lost, cause us to rest in the victory that was won for us through the death and resurrection of your Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen
