I came to Concordia University Irvine as a communication major. But on a mission trip to Hungary, God got a hold of my heart and called me into ministry.

A large part of my ministry today has been to plant an extension of our church in the downtown area. We also provide housing and job training to veterans and the homeless in our community.

My time at Concordia was instrumental in preparing me as a pastor. The truth is I expected small classes and intense academics, but the leadership and ministry opportunities I was able to take part in really took my education to a whole new level.

Each professor challenged and supported me to extend my learning outside the classroom. That “real life” experience was monumental not only in my personal growth as Christian, but also in my growth as future leader of the church.

I expected small classes and intense academics, but the leadership and ministry opportunities I was able to take part in really took my education to a whole new level.

The one piece of advice I’d give prospective students is to enjoy the diverse opportunities you are offered at Concordia. Even if you know the path God has for your future, try something new. My time at Concordia was an amazing time to discover the many different gifts God has given me and I pray it will be the same for you.
