Preparing Our Campus for the Future
To maintain prestigious rankings like U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Regional Universities,” Concordia University must “Adapt & Improve” its Master Plan for the campus. The most recent Master Plan update was done 12 years ago, and built its most recent new building 10 years ago. Since then, the expectations of higher education have changed – and with approval of the Master Plan revisions, Concordia will change so it can fulfill these expectations.
The proposed revisions to the Master Plan grew out of a multi-year process: Talking first to students, faculty and staff to identify their highest priorities, then listening to the City and meeting with our neighbors. With their input, we have developed a plan that will fulfill Concordia’s potential, while addressing our neighbors’ concerns.
The Irvine Planning Commission and City Council will review the proposed master plan revisions at public hearings this spring. With rapid approval, the first improvements could be in place in time for the Fall 2017 semester.
