Group sessions will be held in the faculty-staff lounge.  If you received a Student Loan, you will not be able to pick up your cap and gown and a hold will be placed on your records, preventing the release of your diploma until you have satisfied the federal required exit loan counseling.  If you have questions, please contact Kathryn McCollough at 949-854-8002 x1131.

Diplomas: Because Summer and Fall graduates have already received their diplomas and Spring candidates have not been evaluated due to the faculty grade deadline, diplomas are not given at the Commencement Ceremony.  Diplomas will be mailed approximately 6 to 8 weeks after graduation.

Incomplete Degrees: Concordia University will not post your degree until all requirements have been satisfied. Students not completing requirements by the end of the applied semester, or June 1st for the Spring semester, must re-apply for degree posting.  For all students re-applying after the Spring semester, a new application fee is required with your application.  "Re-Apply" application are available on the Registrar's webpage.

All those attending the event will receive their cap and gown free (A $50.00 value for just stopping by). For those that cannot attend, cap and gowns can be ordered through the Registrar's Office begin February 20th.

The baccalaureate service is held earlier in the day before the commencement ceremonies. The baccalaureate service is a one-hour worship service which features a former CUI graduate now serving as a pastor in a Lutheran congregation. Attendance is optional; however, family and friends are invited to celebrate with their graduate.

Commencement: Commencement begins promptly at 1:00pm for BA (undergraduate students) and 4:30pm for MA (graduate students) Commencement will take place at the Bren Event Center - University of California, Irvine. Honors and Honor Cords: Bachelor of arts degree students graduating with honors, Cum Laude (3.7 - 3.79 GPA), Magna Cum Laude (3.8 - 3.89 GPA) and Summa Cum Laude (3.9 GPA and above) will receive Honor Cords at the Milestone and Achievement Ceremony on May 8 or at the staging area on Friday, May 9. Honors are determined by grade point averages through the end of fall semester for commencement. Final honors designation may change after the completion of spring semester.  Honors are not awarded to graduate programs. Honors are reserved solely for Undergraduate students. Honors are calculated based on all college/university coursework ever attempted. Every course you have ever taken at the post-secondary level will be used to determine honors.
