Commencement Day Schedule - Friday, May 13
Baccalaureate
10:00 am - CU Center (Concordia Campus)
Baccalaureate is a religious service before Commencement. Seating for students, family and guests is on a first-come, first-seated basis.
Bachelor Degree Commencement Lineup
12:30 pm - Lot 6A Bren Events Center (UCI Campus)
The commencement procession will begin promptly at 12:55 pm. Faculty Marshals will assist with lineup and seating. There will be two open seating groups. Names will be read using cards. Students may sit with whom they wish within their program groups. Family and guests should proceed directly to the Bren Events Center and be seated at this time.

Tickets are not required and seating is available on a first-come, first-seated basis. Ceremony lasts approximately 1 1/2 hours.
Master Degree Commencement Lineup
4:00 pm - Lot 6A Bren Events Center (UCI Campus)
The commencement procession will begin promptly at 4:25 pm. Faculty Marshals will assist with lineup and seating. There will be six grouping arrangements: Theology, International Studies, MBA, Coaching and Athletic Administration, Teaching Credential and Regional Cohort MAED. Names will be read using cards. Students may sit with whom they wish within the groupings. Family and guests should proceed directly to the Bren Events Center and be seated at this time.

3:30 pm - Bren Events Center doors open
4:30 pm - Commencement begins

Protocol
All graduates are expected to remain seated until the entire ceremony has ended and faculty has recessed.
Commencement will take place at the Bren Events Center on the University of California's Irvine campus. Concordia holds its Commencement at UCI so we may accommodate the maximum number of family members and friends to your celebration. The Bren Events Center is located on the corner of Mesa and West Peltason.

Federal Loan Exit Counseling: If you have borrowed money under the Stafford Loan program federal regulations require you to complete Loan Exit Counseling before graduating. The Financial Aid Office has arranged for you to complete the session online at
www.cui.edu under Student Services, Financial Aid and then Loan Programs. Please note in-person workshops will not be held this year. If you have questions, contact Financial Aid at 949-214-3070.
Degree Posting: Please allow 4 to 5 weeks for the final posting of your degree. Upon the completion of the semester, all applications for graduation will be reviewed and evaluated for completion of program requirements.
Diplomas: Because Summer and Fall graduates have already received their diplomas and Spring candidates have not been evaluated due to the faculty grade deadline, diplomas are not given at the Commencement Ceremony. Diplomas will be mailed approximately 6 to 8 weeks after graduation once all requirements have been meet and financial responsibilities completed.
Incomplete Degrees: Concordia University will not post your degree until all requirements have been satisfied. Students not completing requirements by the end of the applied semester, or June 1st for the Spring semester, must re-apply for degree posting. "Re-Apply" applications are available on the Registrar's webpage.
Baccalaureate Service: Baccalaureate service begins at
10:00 a.m. at the CU Center - Concordia University campus. You are encouraged to invite your family and guests to attend this important service. Concordia University includes a baccalaureate service as part of its commencement celebration. The baccalaureate service is held earlier in the day before the commencement ceremonies. The baccalaureate service is a one-hour worship service which features a faculty member, chosen by the student body, from the School of Christ College as preacher. Attendance is optional; however, family and friends are invited to celebrate with their graduate.
Commencement: Commencement begins promptly at
1:00pm for BA (undergraduate students) and 4:30pm for MA (graduate students).Commencement will take place at the Bren Event Center - University of California, Irvine. Please plan on arriving 45 minutes before to start lining up for the processional. All students need to arrive at the Bren Event Center in Graduation attire. Commencement usually runs about two hours.

Honors and Honor Cords: Bachelor of arts degree students graduating with honors, Cum Laude (3.7 - 3.79 GPA), Magna Cum Laude (3.8 - 3.89 GPA) and Summa Cum Laude (3.9 GPA and above) will receive Honor Cords at the Milestone and Achievement Ceremony on May 12 or at the staging area on Friday, May 13. Honors are determined by grade point averages through the end of fall semester for commencement. Final honors designation may change after the completion of spring semester.
Honors are not awarded to graduate programs. Honors are reserved solely for Undergraduate students. Honors are calculated based on all college/university coursework ever attempted. Every course you have ever taken at the post-secondary level will be used to determine honors. This includes grades that Concordia may or may not have accepted toward your degree program.

Transcripts: When all class work is completed and grades submitted, the Registrar's Office will post your degree to your transcript. A copy of your transcript may be requested and will be mailed to you provided that you have no outstanding financial obligations to the University.
