Study Abroad Opportunities

At Concordia University, we offer a number of study abroad opportunites. These programs and international internships add a global direction to your academic pursuits and promise rewarding opportunities for students that want to add a global perspective to their studies. They offer a unique opportunity for students to make the world their classroom, going beyond the confines of the traditional classroom experience. Students have the chance to study at universities around the world for a summer, a semester, or an academic year. In most cases, since they remain enrolled students while participating in these programs and the cost of the program is similar to the tuition costs at CUI, they remain eligible for federal and state financial aid and can still apply it to their education.

Who can study abroad?

Students with a GPA of at least a 3.0 (3.3 for the Joint Degree program in Paris)

Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors (must have completed at least 30 units)

Seniors may only study abroad during the Fall semester

Full-time student at CUI

Must be attending an accredited study abroad program

Limited to 2 semesters

What are the first steps?

Steps for Submitting an Application:

Meet with an Academic Advisor for counseling regarding the program in which you wish to participate.

Begin completing the application(s) for the program. You may pick up an application form from the Advising Office (SSC Bldg).

You will be required to meet with certain offices depending on which progarm you apply for:

Student Accounts

Financial Aid

Director of International Programs - Dr. Cheryl Williams

Provost

(Simultaneous Enrollment, Exchange Program, and Joint Degree Program ONLY)
To receive credit for your major or general education requirements, you will meet with the appropriate Division Chair(s) to determine which courses you can take at your host school. It is encouraged to print out the the courses and course descriptions from the host school before meeting with your Division Chair(s). Substitution forms must be approved by the Division Chairs.

Submit your completed application with approved substitution forms to the Advising Office.

What's Next?

The Advising Office will seek approval from the Dean of Student Affairs and the Registrar's Office to verify your GPA.

(Study Abroad Applicants) Complete and submit the agency's study abroad application.

To maintain your status as a CUI full-time student, you are required to continue with the advising process for fall/spring classes at CUI. You will enroll in courses for the following sememster.

Be in contact with the Advising Office regarding acceptance into that program.

(Simultaneous Enrollment Program) The Advising Office will inform you of the status of your acceptance and course schedule at your host school.

Upon acceptance, you will be required to confirm with the Registrar's Office that you will be attending the program. Your CUI classes for the following semester will be removed.
