Biography
At Concordia Tim teaches technical theatre, scenic design, stage management, and drafting. As the department’s technical director, he also oversees all areas of production for the department’s season. Tim began teaching at Concordia in 1993 when he taught the first technical design course and served as adjunct faculty for several years. He also was part time faculty at Vanguard University from 1996 to 2004 where he taught in many areas of theatrical design as well as theatre and stage management.
In 1996 he started his own company, Gothic Moon Productions, Inc. which has grown from a shop in his backyard garage to a 34,000 square foot facility in Orange specializing in designing and fabricating scenery for many venues needing themed environments. Gothic Moon also serves as a studio for commercial video shoots and for trade events for clients such as Bowflex, Oreck Vacuum Cleaners, and Mercedes Benz.
Tim has a vast amount of experience in theatre, having worked on over 800 productions in design or technical capacities. Favorite theatrical design credits include Sunday in the Park with George for which he won a Dramalogue award, Godspell, The Phantom Toll Booth, and Fiddler on the Roof. Tim’s combination of current experience in the business, his large history of projects, and his passion for teaching have created many wonderful opportunities for learning for both Tim and his students. He is very happy to be a part of the Theatre Department here at Concordia University, Irvine.
In 2011, Tim was named Concordia University's Alumnus of the Year.
