Rob Grishkoff grew up near Disneyland when there were still orange groves all around Orange County. He began playing the French Horn at South Junior High in Anaheim and continued through high school. A music performance major at the University of Cape Town in South Africa, he also attended Cal State Long Beach and Cal State Fullerton. In 1976, he joined the Cape Town Symphony Orchestra and remained with them for 21 years, mainly as principal horn. During that time he performed thousands of concerts with the orchestra and various chamber groups, and he has recorded and toured extensively all over the world including Taiwan, Sweden, and the U.S. during the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.
He met his wife Lindy, a violist, in Cape Town where they worked together for many years in the Cape Town Symphony Orchestra. In 1997, they moved back to Orange County where both continue as freelance musicians. Rob has worked with the Santa Barbara Symphony, Opera Pacific, the Disneyland Holiday Band, and the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, among others. Currently an elementary music teacher with the ABC Unified School District in Cerritos, he has taught at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. He is also on the faculty at Concordia University and Irvine Valley College.
